What is the 5G update coming out in December
The iPhone users will finally get to experience the effects of 5G in India as Apple speeds up the launch process and prepares to roll out the update by December this year.
The Cupertino-based giant revealed that it is working with carrier partners in India to bring the 5G experience to iPhones. The announcement comes in the midst of mounting pressure by India on Apple to roll out the software update to enable 5G services in the country for iPhone users.
„We are working with our carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed,” Apple said in a statement on Wednesday.
The tech giant further revealed that the software will be rolled out in December. “5G will be enabled via a software update and will start rolling out to iPhone users in December,” Apple added.
If things go smoothly, then iPhone users may get to enjoy 5G experience in India in December after the tech giant rolls out the software update.
Several network carrier providers in India have already announced the launch of 5G services, however, several smartphone manufacturers are yet to roll out updates to support 5G.
While many Android smartphones have already enabled 5G support to their devices in India, Apple is yet to follow the path.
The iPhone 14 series including iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 12 series along with the iPhone SE (3rd Gen) are the Apple smartphones that are compatible with 5G set-up and just need a software update from the tech giant to support the service.
Getting the 5G services activated on Apple smartphones will take a while as the company will need to check for bugs, test the compatibility with the network providers and more.
