After a flurry of rumors and leaks over the past week, Apple has unveiled the new Apple Watch Pro, an extra-large and rugged version of its watch aimed at sports-minded customers. Since the watch was first introduced in 2015, the company has created a range of features aimed at health and sports performance.
The company also launched an SE model, the lowest-priced version of the product, which it says is 20% faster than the previous version. The SE model with GPS will cost $249.
The Apple Watch Ultra differs from what the Apple Watch Series 8 offers in a number of areas. To match the premium size, the Apple Watch Ultra also uses a large titanium case that provides more protection than the steel and aluminum versions used on the other models.
Another change is on the side, as the digital crown and side button are now housed in a small flared section on one edge. The digital crown is slightly recessed in this area, partly to provide more protection. On the inside On the inside, the Apple Watch Ultra is powered by the new S8 chip. And the price of the model amounts to 799 dollars for the USA.
The newly announced Apple Watch Series 8 is an update with a focus on speed and fitness improvements. Rumors suggested that the previous two generations of Apple Watch were significantly redesigned. Instead, for 2022, Apple iterated on the existing design with small tweaks that improve the overall experience. The Apple Watch Series 8 could easily be mistaken for the Apple Watch Series 7 that came before it. The curved chassis, digital crown, speaker cutouts and edge-to-edge display are identical.
„The Apple Watch has become an indispensable companion,“ Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a video presentation at the event. The Series 8 has a temperature reading feature that the company says will be able to help women gauge when they’re ovulating.
It will also have collision detection enabled by new internal sensors. There was no need to change the exterior design to accommodate the new body temperature sensor. It uses the contact of the existing sensor with the skin to take periodic measurements and observe temperature trends.
Like the other Apple Watch health sensors, the temperature sensor is not intended to replace specialized medical equipment. Instead, it will alert the user if a trend indicates health issues, such as women’s health. The device can provide an ovulation date estimate to help women better understand their cycle. Cycle tracking data is encrypted on the device and can only be unlocked with a passcode.
The new low power mode can provide up to 36 hours of battery life on a single charge. It disables some features, such as the always-on display. It will be available on Apple Watch Series 4 and later models.
Color options for the aluminum model include Midnight, Starlight, Silver and (PRODUCT)RED. The steel version is available in the following colors: silver, graphite and gold. Apple customers can buy it for $399 for the GPS variant and $499 for the SIM variant. Purchasing this model gives customers 3 months of Fitness+.
The company also highlighted how the watch has helped people with fall detection, irregular heart rate and sports training features.
Since the launch of the first Apple Watch in the spring of 2015, Apple has been a leader in the computer watch business. According to the calculations of the analysis firm Canalys, in the first half of the year, Apple sold 18 million watches, giving it a market share of 52%.
In the second quarter of 2022, the Apple Watch accounted for about 29% of the smartwatch market, according to data from Counterpoint Research. The Apple Watch is becoming an increasingly important part of the tech giant’s business, representing a large part of the Wearables, Home and Accessories segment, which last quarter generated about $8 billion. The Apple Watch is tied to the iPhone, meaning the product helps consumers buy newer smartphone models and benefits Apple beyond just the price of the smartwatch’s hardware.
