According to new rumors, the display of the iPhone 15 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max could be much brighter than that of its main competitor Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The details, shared by ShrimpApple Pro and OreXda on Twitter, come together to suggest that the top-of-the-line iPhone 15 could use a Samsung-made display that will reach an impressive 2,500 nits of brightness.
This follows another recent rumor that the more expensive iPhone 15 models will feature a new screen manufactured by Samsung Display, which is two generations newer than the one used in the new Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, OreXda admits it’s not sure if the display in question is the M13 panel mentioned in that earlier report.
Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can reach 2,000 nits of brightness, which is more than the 1,750 nits promised by Samsung for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. During Tom’s Guide tests, the highest they managed to get from the iPhone 14 Pro was 1,565 nits, although that’s still higher than the S23 Ultra’s maximum 1,444 nits.
2,500 nits would make the already bright screens even easier to read in bright conditions, though it would be a shame if Apple kept it to the Pro Max/Ultra model only. This, in turn, would give consumers another reason to go for them instead of a regular or ‘Pro’ iPhone.
There is still time before the expected September debut of the iPhone 15 series. Other iPhone 15 rumors so far include a curvier redesign, a USB-C charging port, and a possible periscope telephoto camera for the Pro Max/Ultra model.
