Production of BMW’s latest non-hybrid „M“ series has begun – the second-generation M2 coupe has rolled off the assembly line at the brand’s new plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. BMW M series cars are now produced at four locations.

In addition to Mexico, these are two plants in Germany (Munich and Dingolfing) as well as an assembly line in the USA (Spartanberg). It should be noted that 26 unique components for the M2 G87 are located in Mexico, with a total of 77 BMW suppliers located in the country.

The second generation BMW M2 debuted two months ago. The coupe has retained the shape of its predecessor. The two-door car was offered with all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive only.

A six-cylinder three-liter turbo engine is installed under the hood, and the buyer can choose between manual and automatic gearboxes. It has also been confirmed that the M2 will be the last mass-produced BMW without hybrid „upgrades“.

Since the assembly line is located on the other side of the ocean, sales in the US and Europe will start simultaneously in April 2023. The base M2 coupe will cost $63,200, but the price of the most equipped version with accessories from the M Performance catalog can exceed $80,000.
