Apple is preparing a big change for the iPhone 15 Pro. According to rumors and publications in the specialized IT media, the company plans to offer this smartphone without a single physical button, notes TheVerge.
There are even sample drawings of this model now. It won’t have a single traditional button. Instead, they’ve been replaced by touch zones, similar to Android’s virtual buttons.
The decision has not been officially confirmed by Apple. However, it is already drawing criticism and calls from users for it not to happen. The argument of the crowd is that having physical buttons, especially for volume up and down, is much more convenient than touch buttons.
Through traditional buttons, the user can easily control the sound level without even taking the phone out of his pocket. Orienting where the buttons are will be much more difficult in the dark. Controlling the volume with gloves can also be difficult or even impossible compared to traditional buttons.
The arguments in favor of such a decision seem to be fewer. For example, possibly saving space in the phone case. Or easier to achieve water and dust resistance. Or just a better marketing message that the iPhone offers something different.
This wouldn’t be the first time Apple has made such a decision. Years ago, the company similarly abandoned the physical Home button below the display. And then I also removed the standard 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone. Both decisions were met with much criticism and even ridicule from consumers and competitors alike. But in the end, Apple did not back down, and the solutions were implemented in many other smartphones.
