The next-generation iPhone will bring another dramatic change to Apple’s product segmentation strategy. One of the rumors is that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will adopt the name Ultra. Others that another phone will appear to occupy the highest class in the series. The phone will offer various improvements over the regular Pro (and possibly the Pro Max).
This is bad news for fans of the Pro, which is currently indistinguishable from the Pro Max.
For better or worse, more and more information suggests that change is inevitable. From a new leak, we understand that the Ultra may feature two selfie cameras. The rest of the phones in the series will continue to have a single front-facing camera.
Apple’s idea is to increase capacity and weave in new software features to differentiate it from the rest of the market. An example of this approach is a new option in macOS Ventura called Continuity Camera. It converts the iPhone’s rear camera into a webcam to be used on Macs and MacBooks. It is very likely that the second sensor will be ultra-wide. Other suggestions are that it will allow a greater degree of zoom and higher quality photos by combining the inputs from the two sensors.
The information comes from @MajinBuOfficial on Twitter. He claims to have a source within the company.
Two other changes were also reported. One is that you will finally see the transition from Lightning port to USB-C. Something that is not a surprise, but certainly expected. And the other novelty will possibly be the minimum for internal memory in Pro – 256GB instead of 128GB.
